A Mission Partner is an individual who is passionate about doing something big and bold through St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Student Center to re-energize the Catholic Faith in college students who are studying at Valparaiso University. These mission partners are young adults and parents, doctors and teachers, retired and anywhere else life has brought you. They are people like you!
When people join together in accomplishing Jesus’ mission for the church, the Bible calls them “partners.”
"Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now" (Philippians 1:3-5).
Mission Partners are followers of Christ who have decided to join with the Church to connect our college students to God and one another.
They do this by:
Studies across the country have shown that only 30% of Americans who were raised Catholic are still practicing. Thus, the fastest growing religious demographic in the United States are people who list their faith as "unaffiliated." The saddest part of all of this is that almost 80% of those who leave the Catholic Faith do so by the age of 23.
This means that there is an entire generation that is at stake and that there is an urgency in helping our students encounter meaning and purpose in life. This is where you come in. With Mission Partners, we are able to raise up our students and provide them with a life-changing encounter with Christ that will set them on a successful path to put their faith in action. We do this by winning the hearts of students, building them up as they grow in their faith, and then send them out into the world to serve God and neighbor.
Consider helping us reach the hearts and minds of our college students.
